Description

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is excited to announce a newly developed short course entitled "Frequency Selective Surfaces: Theory and Design" offered by ARA's Applied Electromagnetics Division.

This course is geared toward any Scientist/Engineer/Student/Academician with a background in, or familiarity with, Electromagnetic Fundamentals who is looking for a broad exposure and understanding of the theory, and design principles associated with Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS). This would be especially valuable to newer government employees and DoD contractors supporting the development and fielding of low observable systems.

The material presented in this course is based upon the second half of the book "Frequency Selective Surfaces: Theory and Design" by Ben Munk. In particular, the second half of this book deals with bandpass and bandstop filter design, as well as Circuit Analog (CA) Absorber design and power handling capability of FSS structures. This book, based on the work performed while a professor at The Ohio State University ElectroScience Laboratory, is a "timely and authoritative work which explains what it takes to build different types of FSSs, including the hybrid radome and other recently declassified material."

This one-day course endeavors to provide an introductory understanding of the underlying principles and design techniques associated the development of hybrid bandpass and bandstop radomes, in addition to CA absorbers. Numerous design examples will be developed and shown throughout the course.
